The Centres of Consciousness

• Are you worried because of the eventual events which might occur in the future?
• Are you burdened by your actions from the past?
• Are you miserable and suffering because your partner, colleagues at work or your friends do not understand you?
• Are you dissatisfied with your body?
• Your sex life does not coincide with your expectations?
• Are you jealous?
• Are you shy?
• Are you insisting in unsuccessful marriage because you are afraid of unknown solitary life?
• Or are you single and feeling lonely and unhappy because of that?
• Are you valuing things with money?
• Are you refusing activities which you have never tried before?
• Are you hard on yourself if you do not succeed in something you have started?
• Do you think you are unable to live your life fully because others affect it in such way?
• Are you putting off pleasures just because you first have to do this or that?
• Are you valuing peoples' capability by the number of their diplomas, success at school or their wealth?
• Are you avoiding people you find strange?
• Are you always wearing the same type of clothes and never something extraordinarily or daring?
• Do you feel revengeful towards someone who hurt you?
• Is your success in the society depending on the others’ approval?
• Do you sometimes feel embarrassed?
• Do you think it is unfair that the others get more money for the same amount of work done as yours?
• Do you say yes to those party invitations you would rather not go?
• Do you feel guilty for somebody else’s unhappiness?
• Are you always in a hurry?
   

If you are limited by a state of emotions or prejudices mentioned in previous questions or you are suffering from something similar, you are probably caught in enchanted circle of separating, negative feelings in the three lower centres of consciousness. But it is not as difficult as it might seem to find the way out of this circle, all we have to do is endeavour just a little and to look carefully at the real image of surroundings and ourselves, the image, which is hidden behind all sort of masks and pretences.

People have been living on the Earth for approximately ten millions of years. Most of the time they were living on the level of the animals. First cities were built approximately 10.000 years ago. It is no wonder that even today the human consciousness is in many aspects similar to the animal one. The consciousness, however, can not be exchanged with the mind which is definitely on a much higher level in comparisment to the animal one. In the book of Ken Keyes, Handbook to Higher Consciousness, which I highly recommend, I summarise the author’s classification of the consciousness into seven centres, three lower and four higher ones.
 
 

The lower centres of consciousness

1. The Security Center

Western man spends a great partof his life exactly in this centre. This centre creates feelings of fear and anxiety. Incessantly we ask ourselves questions like: What will happen to me if I lose my job? What if I do not pass this exam? What if I run out of money to pay the loans? Etc., etc..
We can not influence the future. People mostly think we can but that is not true. Just think about it: Did you five or ten years ago know exactly what will you be doing today? Does your position atwork correspond to the knowledge received at school? Have your children become what you always imagined? Mostly not.
We can not catch the future inorder to reform it our way. The feelings of safety and threat are pertinent only in the present moment regarding the physical sa fety, e.g. when we are crossing thestreet and we have to keep away from the car or something like that.
 

2. The Sensation Center

This one is linked to the search for happiness in the sensual pleasures, e.g. in sexuality or food. You might find it strange that I write about this on pages which are supportive towards sharing the sexual and other pleasures among the people. In general people do not know how to enjoy but are dependent on looking for pleasures. When they reach their aimthey are usually disappointed because they do not experience what they have hoped, but instead go on searching for the new pleasures. This search and feelings itself can addict us. We become chased, satiated here and there, but in general dissatisfied with our life. However, it is possible to enjoy sensuality from the higherlevels of consciousness as well, but only when the sensuality and pleasures connected to it are fulfilling us.
 

3. The Power Center

The need to increase our self-image and wealth, as well as the eagerness for power are the characteristics of being in this centre. In our society exists a large number of fake families and people who sacrifice their external image for the contents of their existence. Typical of being in this centre is role playing which cover the real me. Unfortunately this centre has become the foundation ofthe western civilisation. The cover has become more important than the content. The real me stayed hidden behind the home walls where sometimes real dramas are befalling. Addiction to the search of happiness in the centre of power, can sometimes be the reason for serious mental distresses and illnesses. Constant pretence and wearing masks can pathologically split up the personality. Personally I know quite a few of this people.
 
 

The higher centres of consciousness

4. The Love Center

In this centre we accept people and life as they are. We see ourselves in the others and everyone in ourselves. When we are in this centre we know that we are safe. We become opened towards people and capable of confiding in them whatever is happening in our innerness because we know that we are one in love. The more time we spend in this centre, the more we like to touch people because we are released from the aberration of division and duality. We can also communicate with the senses of touch. We look with understanding on those people who are still restrained in being in the three lower centres but at the same time we are aware of being warned incessantly of addictions these people are limited by. We know that their relationship towards us, even though inimical, is only an expression ofsearching for understanding and love, but due to their captivity in the lower centres they can not express th emselves differently. Towards people who are close to
us we do not feel anymore feelings of dependence, like jealousy or possession for instance. We accept and love unconditionally.
 

5. The Cornucopia Center

The more we are in the centre of love, the more opened towards people and life situations we become. We make friendships we could never even dream of before. Life becomes a paradox, serious of  "miraculous" events which follow one another. The more we give from ourselves, the more richness comes in to our life. Compatible energy which is gathering in ourselves because we got rid of the addiction from the lower centres, stimulates people to love us and help us. We do not need to be in the centre of sensuality anymore as we are able to enjoy in the good and useful food which we always have enough of. Sex life develops to unimaginable extensiveness. We also do not need to be in the centre of safety and power. According to the paradox rule "the more you give, the more you have", more goods come into our life than we really need. We feel others’ love and the need to manage other people disappears.
The centre of abundance is a state of consciousness which is probably the most incomprehensible to the western people. We are addicted to the rules of inconsiderate marketing and greediness in order to get material and sensual goods. Organisations which are backing ideologies and religions of the western world operate from the centre of power. Their characteristic is the wish to manage peoples’ lives and preserving the social stereotypes. Still there are many people at west who comprehend centres of consciousness and live a full life. Among them there are many celebrities.
 

6 .The Conscious-awareness Center

We might think that being in the centre of love and abundance is all a man can achieve. Still it is not like that. The metacentre from which we can impartially observe the stay in the remaining centres, is called the centre of self-awareness. When we are in this centre we are aspectator who impartially observes the story of our life without identifying with the main or any other actor. We are capable of establishing in which consciousness centre are we at the moment without trying to influence the happening. The meaning of the self-awareness is the comprehension of our essence which is at the lowerfive levels veiled with the ego. Thinking and actions are spontaneousand not deriving from fears of past experiences.  Obvious ability to enjoy in every moment. We are not the ego, ego is only an operating system of our biocomputer. Being in the centre of awareness is basically to be aware of our own consciousness.
This level of consciousness is extremely hard to achieve, for longer being in it we would need at least couple of years. The top psychiatrist and therapist Wayne W. Dyer, recommends next exercise:
Take your time and watch the television news. All the information presented accept but do not try to make opinion about them. Thisway, after a while, you will be able to accept the information from your life.
 

7. The Cosmic Consciousness Center

At this level of consciousness we move from the self-awareness to absolute awareness. At this stage an individual does not experience the states from the other centres anymore, to those is he himself safety, love and fullness. He perceives and accepts eve rything as oneness. For him there is no ”others” or “I” He experiences everything as singleness. Longer being in this centre is difficult to achieve. Among all the people there were only few who accomplished this.Being in the fourth, the fifth or the sixth is fulfilling us enough and enabling us to spend most of the time without the feelings of separation.
 

At the same time we can be in more centres. There is nothing unusual about the transition from higher to lower centres and backwards. Primarily is only that we tend to stay longer inthe higher ones. In the book "Handbook to Higher Consciousness" we can find out more about the ways of achieving this.
